Sands Environmental Policy

At Sands we take our environmental responsibilities seriously. We like to work with our guests to ensure your holiday is low impact and supports sustainable tourism.

We ask our guests to work with us to reduce waste, re-cycle and conserve the environment and coastline. By doing so we can offset the negative aspects of running a large establishment with a large consumption of energy and renewables.

Here are some of the ways we are working to reduce waste

  • Converting to low energy lighting
  • Solar panels to heat the outdoor pool
  • Light sensors in our public toilets
  • Dual flush toilets
  • Re-cycle bins for cardboard, plastic, glass, tins and waste
  • We try to buy from local producers and suppliers
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the coastal path in front of the hotel
  • Minimize the use of hotel transport

And here are some of the ways you can help

  • Only change towels when you need to
  • Don’t leave taps running
  • Only part fill your kettles
  • Turn off all your lights when you leave the room
  • Re-cycle your paper and tins

You may notice the following areas where we are trying to cut usage

  • We only offer 1 swim towel per person. Washing and drying towels is one of the greatest usages of energy we consume. If you want more please ask.
  • We offer sensible size food portions to reduce wastage. If you want more please ask its no problem.

We hope you will help us make some difference.
