As usual it is a busy time in Cornwall. No sooner did the last guest depart than we started filling skips with carpets and furniture. An army of plasterers, plumbers and joiners were on site within days to start our winter building programme.

This winter we are Upgrading 30 suites at the north end of the hotel with new furniture, carpets and fittings. Refurbished bathromms and an extra sink in each suite plus broadband connection have been added. As soon as we have some pictures we will post them. These rooms will be our new "Contemporary" standard.

BOOK YOUR SEATS FOR 2008 AT "15" CORNWALL
Jamie Oliver's restaurant on the beach goes from success to success. It is now taking its 3rd group of underprivileged students on for what is proving to be a life changing experience.

Previous students are already being headhunted by restaurants around the world and deservedly so. The food is great.

We know how popular the beachcomber area of the dining room is for couples eating dinner. We never have enough tables.

So we are adding another area to the restaraunt where the mood will be soft lighting and walls covered in wine racks. We think it might be just as popular as the sea view tables for a cosy dinner.

COOKERY COURSES AT RICK STEINS COOKERY SCHOOL
Rick is running some great new courses at his cookery school in Padstow this summer. For foodies its a great experience and a chance to learn some of the dishes that Rick describes with such passion in his TV show
To see the dates of this years courses go to.
http://www.rickstein.com/calendar.htm

For 2008 we've got a brand new course based on my travels round the Mediterranean over the last two years.  I think it's going to be lots of fun, there's plenty of seafood, of course, and lots of use of the tomato, the olive, garlic, peppers and lemons.

Each course offers a balance of demonstrations by our chefs and hands-on cooking. Each day revolves around lunch – the morning is spent cooking, then at lunchtime, you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labour with your fellow students.

"I’m so pleased about the success of the cookery school; ultimately it’s down to the quality of the fish, meat, poultry, fruit and vegetables, all bought from really great producers."
Rick Stein

taylor made Out in the gardens we are adding a new play frame for the older kids. The new toddlers play area was so poppular this year that we felt the elder children deserved some new equipment too.
